Obama Administration Rejects Keystone XL Pipline

Last week President Obama rejected TransCanada’s permit to build the Keystone XL pipeline. The pipeline would have had the capacity to deliver 700,000 barrels of oil a day to American refineries, but more importantly, deliver jobs to our depressed economy.

President Obama was faced with a simple question – is the pipeline in the national interest? Only in Washington D.C. would the answer not be obvious and take three years to decide. What’s especially interesting is that his own State Department evaluated the environmental impacts and concluded there were be no serious displacement. Instead of buying oil from our friendly neighbor and trading partner we will now send more money overseas to unstable countries.

What was Canada’s response to the Obama Administration rejection of Canadian oil? Red rover red rover send China on over!

Canadian Natural Resource Minister Joe Oliver explained on the Willis Report  that it’s “a major strategic objective to diversify our customer base and the Asian markets are very robust”

In the end, what do you expect from a leader who promised that under his policy the price of energy would ‘necessarily skyrocket?
